About Richard Roberts
Rich has been involved in the off-roading industry since 1982. It all started with his business partnership with Tony Kujala in AZ Auto Repair. Tony liked building the engines but not the transaxles. With the background Rich had in working on Muncie 4 speeds and setting up rear differentials, it was an easy transition to becoming the transaxle builder. And because of the budget, he didn't have much of a choice! By their second year in racing they not only won a lot of races but they won the Class 5 HDRA Points Championship. Rich was building the gearbox for the Class 5 car and some of their friends were having him work on their gearboxes too. That was the start of it all. Since then Rich has branched off and started AAR and over the last 30 years he has continued his involvement in off-road racing with several different teams either racing with them or building their gearboxes. The goal was the same - to help them win races and championships. (See Winners Circle).
Rich still frequents Glamis with family and friends. His mission is to build the best product for your budget using his experience, knowledge, and by treating every job like it is his own.
Since 1992 Rich's primary job is Captain with Phoenix Fire Department. Fortunately with his schedule at PFD he is able to run the day to day operations at AAR. He is always avaliable to help out with your gearbox needs.
